Our Story
The Genesis
I’ve always leaned a little hippie. I’ve loved natural remedies for as long as I can remember, but my interest in herbs really grew during the 20 years I spent in full-time missions around the world.
One of my favorite things to do whenever I arrived in a new country was to visit the local markets. I loved seeing huge bins overflowing with herbs and spices, mysterious pieces of bark, dried leaves and flowers and learning how people had used them for generations. The ways different cultures turned to the plants around them for everyday care and wellness fascinated me.
In 2020, I began studying herbalism more seriously and experimenting with making my own herbal remedies and skincare. I also have extremely sensitive skin, so I wanted products that were natural and gentle, but that also worked. And I wanted to know exactly what was going into the things I was putting on my skin.
Why Herbs?
Like many people getting started with herbs, I initially used essential oils. Fairly quickly, I became sensitized to them myself and began learning more about just how concentrated they are and how easily they can be misused.
At the same time, I was learning more about working with whole plants. That changed the way I formulated. Rather than relying on essential oils or fragrance oils, I began infusing whole herbs directly into my products.
I loved the gentleness of this approach and the opportunity to work with more of what the whole plant has to offer. Whole-herb infusions became a foundational part of the way I make skincare, and they still are today.
At first, I was simply making things for myself and giving them to friends and family. The feedback kept coming, and somewhere in the back of my mind I thought, Maybe someday when I retire, I could turn this into a business
What began with a curiosity about herbs has become something I never quite expected - a business that allows me to create, serve people, and share the goodness I’ve found in the things God has made.
Day 3 Creations Today
Someday came a little sooner than I expected. In 2023, my daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren moved to Oklahoma. I wanted to be close to them, so I made the move too. With a new season of life came the opportunity to finally see what could happen if I took this little idea seriously.
I began selling at a few Christmas markets at the end of 2023, and Day 3 Creations officially became a business in early 2024. I joined a local farmers market, met my customers face-to-face, listened to their stories, learned what they needed, and kept refining what I made. And I’m still doing that.
Today, Day 3 Creations continues to grow, but the heart behind it hasn’t changed. I still believe in knowing my ingredients, continuing to learn, being honest about what skincare can and cannot do, and creating products that are gentle, effective and uncomplicated. What began with a curiosity about herbs has become something I never quite expected - a business that allows me to create, serve people, and share the goodness I’ve found in the things God has made.
Why Day 3?
When it came time to give the business a name, I knew I wanted it to reflect both my faith and my love of working with whole plants. In Genesis 1:11-12, we read about the third day of creation, when God brought forth plants, trees and vegetation - each bearing seed and fruit according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
That’s where the name Day 3 Creations comes from. It’s a reminder of something I believe deeply - God has given us good things in His creation. Herbs, flowers, trees, oils and so many of the ingredients I work with began as part of that good creation. My job is to learn about them, work with them carefully, and create products that put those gifts to good use.
